Miasto przyjazne niepełnosprawnym?

Dostosowanie przestrzeni miasta do potrzeb osób niepełnosprawnych to coraz ważniejszy obszar działań władz samorządowych. Przemyślana architektura budynków, budowa dróg czy adaptacja szeroko pojętego transportu miejskiego zapewnia swobodne korzystanie z miejskiego życia wszystkim użytkownikom. Należy jednak pamiętać o tym, że to opinia samych osób niepełnosprawnych co do użyteczności przestrzeni powinna być najważniejszym wyznacznikiem zagadnienia. W artykule główna uwaga autorki skupia się na problemach dopasowania wielu obszarów miasta do niepełnosprawnego użytkownika. Przytoczone zostały przykłady ulepszeń stosowane w polskich miastach, a także problemy, którym jeszcze nie zdołano sprostać. Przedstawiono też opinię niepełnosprawnych użytkowników o dostosowaniu obszarów miejskich do ich potrzeb.

Disabled-friendly city?
Summary
Adjustment of the city space to the needs of people with disabilities stands for the increasingly important area of activities of local authorities. The thoughtful architecture of the buildings, road construction or adaptation of the widely understood urban transport provides free use of city life to all users. However, it should be noted that the opinion of the disabled themselves considering the usefulness of the space, should be
the most important determinant of the issue. In the article, the author focuses mainly on the problems of adjustment of the number of areas of the city to a disabled user. Examples of improvements applied in the Polish cities, as well as problems that have not been met, were given. The opinion of the disabled users about the adjustment of urban areas to their needs was also presented.
